About LegalSpa
LegalSpa explains how Thai rules on business, visas, property and insurance affect foreigners, in plain English.
Why the site exists
Foreigners moving to Thailand meet a set of rules that are spread across several laws and government departments, often published only in Thai. Much of what circulates online is out of date or based on one person's experience at one immigration office. LegalSpa tries to set out how the rules generally work and where to check them.
Who writes it
LegalSpa is written and edited by a small editorial team. We are not a law firm, and none of our articles are legal advice. We do not attribute articles to named lawyers or claim reviews by professionals we have not worked with. Each guide shows the month it was last reviewed.
How we work
We base our guides on the text of Thai laws and regulations where available, government websites and published guidance from the agencies involved. Where practice varies between offices or embassies, we say so rather than picking one version.
How the site is funded
LegalSpa may earn money from advertising and from commercial relationships with some of the businesses we link to, such as law firms, property agents and insurers. These relationships do not determine what we write, and links are placed where they are relevant to the topic. A link is not a recommendation for your particular situation.
